2018 AOC Morgon 'Les Charmes'

Domaine Saint-Cyr

Regular price $60 750ml Sale

From a 0.8ha plot of 60 year old vines, grown on white granite and red schist. This site is quite elevated at 500M. De-stemmed, 15 days cold carbonic maceration, then aged in old barrels for 18 months. 10ppm SO2 before bottling.

Darkish colour. Nose of chocolate and blackberries. Baking spice and a bit of raw meat. Very clean on the nose and fresh on the palate. Nice and linear, but packed with fruit. There is a nice iron mineral edge. No heat for 18, he’s done well. Good fine tannin, nice tension. Good savoury stemmy action too. The wine is dark, but it’s not jammy, it has tension and is very taught, and also has great medium plus acidity. Steely mineral edge. Fruit falling at the edges into rocks. Boysenberry fruit, red cherries, nice and taught. Awesome for the price. Nice sour cherry acidity on finish. Perfume is more floral and violet after it has warmed a bit. Tart, sour cherry on front palate too. Mineral, long and toned. Supple to drink, nice acidity that is slightly tart. Nice mineral impact, like in between limestone and iron. Clean, easy, and well made. Violets on nose too. Love the acidity. Served chilled.
