2018 VDF 'Psssit Tac!'
100% Chardonnay from Bugey. 40 year old vines grown on clay and limestone. Direct press, then aged in tank for 9 months. Zero SO2.
Beautiful shiny colour, luminous. Ripe orchard fruits, yellow apples, nectarines, lemon, honey blossom, and some limestone freshness tucked away. Slight lemon meringue pie smell. Lacquerous texture flows with yellow apples, mineral and stone fruit notes. Quite viscous but at the same time fresh. Very free, nice soft edges with medium acidity. The fruit is sweet, would complement salty dishes or cheese. The tension builds as the bottle has time to breathe. It has some roundness without being heavy. Lemon drops. Quite a lot of sea breeze later on. The texture is so nice, maybe a hint of residual. Acidity is gentle and lovely. Very nice lemon and lime later on, purity starting to show more too. Day two: lots more mineral than fruit, very mountain fresh with light green herbs in the breeze.
