2016 AOC Arbois 'Les Corvées'

Domaine de la Touraize

Regular price $68 750ml Sale

Trousseau from Les Corvées parcel, with vines aged between 40-50 years old. The soils here are gravel on marl. De-stemmed, then macerated for 30 days in stainless steel. Half the wine is kept in stainless and half is transferred to an old Alsation foudre. The wine is then blended back together before bottling.

The most powerful of the reds, yet still very fresh. Milk chocolate berry nose – a bigger style Trousseau, but not massive. Just has more depth than most, but without being heavy. Some baking spice – seems to be a theme in A-js reds. Strawberries and violets when you sniff deep. Softly spoken, kind, and full of substance. Beautiful full mid palate, long and complex. A wine for a meal, more so than just for drinking. Fine, grainy chocolat-y tannins on the finish. Such great balance, and as always, very, very tasty. A more serious wine for those that are looking for complexity over glou glou.
