2019 AOP Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune (Magnum)

Chapuis et Chapuis

Regular price $125 1500ml Sale

Pinot Noir from their organic family vineyards in Savigny-Lès-Beaune. 10 days maceration, and then aged in old barrels for 6 months. Zero SO2.

Seriously… just to look at this you know it's going to be good. Quite a lightish red, so it hasn't been over extracted. The smell is heavenly! It is so expressive for a red. Everyone always says “oh it’s locked down, in a sleeping phase, tight etc…” This is the opposite - it's perfume city on roids. Wow! It’s just a blend of flowers and berries at the happiest picnic on earth. Violets, red roses, raspberries, hints of wild blackberry. Background baking spice is there is you sniff deep, but barely noticeable. It’s exotic and free. To taste it is so fresh. Red apple, strawberries, raspberries, a hint of black mineral, and elusive tannin on the back palate. I’m so impressed by this wine. The perfume is an exotic lifted floral array of spectacular beauty!!! Supple, seamless to drink, lightly sweet fruit, with a mineral spine and layers of flavours that are already there – but of course in magnum – just waiting to develop. No one makes Burgundy like this – and no one makes it this good and this cheap. It's ridiculous. Show. Stopper! Serve slightly chilled.
