2019 AOP Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune

Chapuis et Chapuis

Regular price $60 750ml Sale

Chardonnay from their family vineyards in Savigny-Lès-Beaune. Vines are 25 years old, grown on chalk and clay. Aged in old barrels for 6 months. Zero SO2.

Pale colour. Clear. Looks so fresh and inviting! It’s very shiny. Delicate nose. Pears, lemons, apples, florals. It has that nutty leesy character, but only just so that it sits in the background and is not a prominent feature. I prefer it this way. You know it’s Burgundy, but you feel like it’s more new school. Quite refined. It’s clean and youthful. will age well. Limestone freshness. Whiffs of nuts in the distance. Hinting, not dominant. Medium texture, medium plus acidity. Nice creaminess, gentle burg barrels. Lemons, limes and apple. Very crisp and fresh, but has just enough body to give it some weight – however, it’s light enough – and perfect for summer. Hints of spice in the background. Very good. Young, but drinkable now, and will only improve. If you can find a better white Burg at this price let me know! Perfect balance between sweet fruit and acidity. The texture is really good. Quite long too. Opens up very nicely with time in the glass. Texture builds. Peaches and cream, with nectarines. So tasty!
