Regular price $86 750ml Sale

From their own vineyards in Cheilly-lès-Maranges. West-facing terroir on clay with blue marls. The vines are 20 years old, and have only ever been farmed organically. Vinification is whole bunch and begins in stainless steel. Transferred to old barrels to age for one year, without racking. 20mg/L SO2 before bottling.

Dark rose red. Slightly reductive on opening, with that typical Maranges smell - like warm soil. Quite pungent but very nice, and shows the terroir well. This is very earthy, rather than fruity. Like warm paddocks. Blue stone and iron coming through. Darker fruit, blackberries. More floral characters appear as it begins to breathe. we start to see an exotic perfume come into play as well. Tastes smooth, dense, and powerful. Medium minus acidity. Gently tart at the edges, but overall it is packed with flavour and is very smooth to drink. Tannins are soft and barely detectable. Blackberry jam. More serious and deep than the other reds. A wine to decant and watch evolve slowly.
