2020 VDF 'L’Oume'
A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault. The Cinsault is from old vines planted in 1954. The soils here are made up of very rocky limestone, and the plot is surrounded by Mediterranean forest. The Grenache and Cinsault are placed in a tank whole bunch and the Syrah is direct pressed to cover the other grapes. This creates a type of carbonic maceration without the need for added CO2. Macerated for 10 days, then pressed back into tank. Aged for 6 months in stainless steel. No filtration nor fining. Without added S02.
Lighter ruby red colour. Very inviting to look at in the glass. Red cherries and cherry stone, kirsch. Violets and red roses. Rocky mineral vein. Quite fragrant and pleasing. To taste it is fresh and extremely flavourful. Medium acidity, and fine body. Linear and straight, but with huge energy. Lingering flavours of cherries and dark red apple. Super expressive. Very fine tannin and sandy grip on the finish. Lifted, vibrant, and has a beautiful lacy structure. Powerful flavours, but in a lighter style. Really delicious. Serve chilled.
