2018 VDF 'Jardin du Poira' blanc

Les Jardins de Theseiis

Regular price $60 750ml Sale

100% Romorantin from 5 year old vines (planted by Bruno Allion in 2013). Aged in barrel for 10 months. Bottles by gravity. Zero SO2. It's a small parcel, and not much fruit is produced at this stage - and so, they only made just over two barrels in 2018. Only 60 bottles allocated for Australia.

Beautiful yellow colour. Lovely nose of apricots, cantaloupe, white florals and ozone. Very clean and fresh. This smell is so unique, and finding descriptors often escapes me, and always keeps you guessing. So much limestone influence on the nose. To taste it is quite mineral and fresh, with more minerality than fruit. Pithy fruits, saline notes and background florals. Melon, peaches and apricots start to show, but the minerality still takes centre stage. This is very juicy, with reasonably high acidity, and lots of tension on the finish. Some gentle white pepper notes on the finish too. Really starts to open up in the glass, with the fruit coming through more over time. The limestone tension on the finish is huge. A young wine that is better suited with food or cheese. And this will surely develop into something special with age. Great for those that have never tried the variety, and want to explore something different.
