Mondeuse from Bugey, in the commune of Musin. Clay-limestone terroir. 3 weeks of maceration and then pressed in a vertical ratchet press, with 9 months of ageing in barrels. Zero SO2. FACE for the game PILE OR FACE (Heads or Tails). Two versions of the Mondeuse.

Darker red with purple tinges. Powerful yet lifted perfume. Incredible to smell. Mystical and exotic nose. Reminds me of old school Prieuré Saint-Christophe. Wild forest, very savoury and deep, with woody herbs, dark berries and dark chocolate. These notes are all lifted though, and riding the freshness train. Lots of wild flowers emerge. Mondeuse at its finest. It is clean and pure to smell, and a great expression of this grape. To taste it has sandy and earthy flavours, with interesting notes of spice, chocolate and very grainy tannins. There is an abundance of wild berries and exotic spice. The texture is creamy, and the acidity is low-medium. Smooth sailing. Later on with air you get big notes of iron and black forest cake. Dark cherry and dark chocolate. Drink chilled, but not too cold. 10.5% alc.
