Based in Chassey-le-Camp (about 4km from Bouzeron), these vineyards are made up of clay and limestone and are quite sandy. Willy began working in this vineyard and converting it to organic in 2017. These vines are 45 years old. 50% was direct press, the other 50% was de-stemmed by hand and the grapes were macerated for 10 days. The wine was raised in old barrels for 10 months. No battonage, no fining or filtration, and no SO2 at any stage. 600 bottles produced.

Clear, nice clean colour, light with yellow tinges. You can smell burgundy barrel, and so it could fool you as chardonnay – but only because the grassy herb notes aren’t there - which is good. Lemon, lime cordial, rocks, and that burgundy lees character. Very clean nose , a pleasure to smell. Beautiful texture – normally aligoté can be zippy and acidic - this is more friendly and approachable. Smells like lime and limestone, there is no grass. Tastes of fresh lime, limestone and has that gentle texture. Acidity is medium plus, and that combined with the texture makes this so delicious. It’s fresh, summery, and the opposite of austere. So happy with this example. Fruit is sweet, but the wine is dry. Yum. Lime cordial but with purity. Long, perfectly balanced too. Such a great example of this often elusive variety.
