2020 AOP Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune rouge (Magnum)

Chapuis et Chapuis

Regular price $130 1500ml Sale

Romain selected the barrel with the lightest expression of Pinot Noir for me. This is different to the 750ml, in that it is just Pinot Noir from their family vineyards in Savigny-Lès-Beaune. 10 days maceration, and then aged in old barrels for 6 months. Slightly lighter than the 750ml. No added sulfites.

Slightly darker profile than the 2019. Smells clean and really good. Red and black cherry flesh, with a little baking spice. Dark red apple, boysenberry, salt – it’s all young but very pleasant and enticing. To taste – young fruit – wild berries and cherries. A touch darker than 19, but still relatively light. Clean fruit, lots of drive, and perfect acidity that is balanced and verifies Romain's judgement in farming and when to harvest. Perky, perfectly ripe fruit. Fruit packed mid palate without being heavy. Good drive and hints of tension and fine tannin. It’s delicious now and will age well too. An absolute steal for a magnum of Burgundy at this price. Serve slightly chilled.
