Sauvignon blanc from a 3ha parcel in Verdigny. The vines are 30 years old on average, grown on clay and limestone. 30% botryitis. Aged in tank for two years and then in old barrels for a further 12 months. Never fined or filtered. Zero SO2.
Beautiful orange colour initially, and then tinges with a bit of air. Smells like fruit rolls or uncle tobys apricot rollups a bit. Gingerbread, spice and flowers on the nose. More restraint initially. On the palate very fresh and lively with quite bright notes of apricot jubes, tangy peach, orange rind and it has a salty edge. Very approachable this year. Finishes with nice spice and limestone coolness. Slightly more raw than the other cuvées, but not in a rugged way. Persistently mineral too. Mouthwatering goodness, quite approachable to drink on it’s own also. Tangy and delicious. Excellent value for the price.
