2017 AOP Bourgogne

AMI

Regular price $73 750ml Sale

Grapes come from AMI’s vineyard in Chassey-le-Camp (in conversion) and a friend’s vineyard in Corpeau (certified organic for over 15 years). Sandy clay soils with some limestone in both vineyards. Direct press, then raised for one year in old barrels. The fermentation was very slow, and finished during the 2018 harvest.

This is seriously impressive for their entry level Chardonnay. In fact for price I doubt it can be beaten for quality and overall enjoyment. Very bright and expressive, with lots of charm. Lemons, apples, nectarines and a touch of honey. The fruit is clean and free, and there is nor reduction or oak (or heaps of SO2) to suppress it. The texture is gentle and ample - not too thick - just enough to coat the mouth before the wave of acidity takes over and rounds things out nicely. This wine is so delicious and everything you look for in quality Burgundy.
