2016 AOC Sancerre 'Skeveldra'
Sauvignon Blanc from a 1ha parcel in St. Satur. The vines are 50 years old on average and grown on soils with a high content of silex. 50% botrytis. Aged for two years in tank then a further year in old wood. Never fined or filtered. Zero SO2.
Quite amber in colour. More fruit here on the nose. Apricots, peaches, mandarins and candied cumquat. Ocean breeze and wet stones. Yum! First sip, that’s delicious. Less spice and more fresh breeze freshness here. Pastry crust, apricot tart. More linear and focused, with medium plus acidity. Later on we experience galangal, burnt honey and canned apricots. Deep dive in and you get lost. These wines are so good. The flavours are complex with lots of depth, yet balanced, and the length is sensational. Skeveldra looking very, very good this time around.
