2014 VDF 'À la santé des mécréants'
Duras from 40 year old vines, grown on clay and limestone soils. Hand harvested, macerated for 15 days in tank. This wine is dedicated to the journalists and artists of Charlie Hebdo, who died in the terrorist attack in Paris.
Slightly floral, with nice spice, earth and depth. Plum notes, but not too much fruit initially. Full mid-palate – waves and waves of flavour go on and on. Very dry, fine tannins. Quite juicy, but lean. So long! Bracken and bramble, boysenberries, and limestone tension. A nice tartness about it as well. Definitely a food wine, although not heavy.
