2014 VDF 'L'Insoumis du Village'

Wow!!! This wine is seriously incredible. A wine to enjoy with a meal, not just drink. Or maybe with some hard cheese. The aromas are so complex, it’s remarkable. What balance! The deeper you fall into the glass, the more that comes out of it. Fruit, savoury characters, spice, all restrained – you could smell this for hours. The palate is super fresh! Layers upon layers ascending to purity and greatness, on and on, wow! It smells like a cross between a pretty burg and an amazing cab franc. It’s just so fresh and tasty, no signs of being held back by sulfur or oak – it’s free, super expressive, but at the same time so elegant. Not sweet in any way – delicious cherry fruit and spice – super light, fresh and pretty but with complexity. Rounded out by mineral goodness and a touch of grip – silex and silca style tannins. The aromas change and open up something intense, what a perfume! It is so bright and lifted. The palate is super clean too, very fine, but pretty and silky, with a slippery fine texture. Roses, lifted roses – when the 3rd glass is completely drained empty (about 2 hours after opening) – when you smell those aromas – that’s another level. Wow.
