2014 P'tite Berthe
100% Organic Cabernet Franc. Soft pressing of grapes, fermented with indigenous yeasts for 6 months in tank. No fining or filtering, just a touch of SO2 at bottling.
Pineau d’Aunis muskiness with a purple wine gum note on the nose. Very bright and nasal energising! Light with background tannin drift, this wine is simple and easy - glou glou like, with not too much to think about. A good everyday wine, that is not super complex, but still satisfying. It’s not trying to be anything, but it’s good at being itself – easy and tasty. With some time in the glass (and this stays open for days) the aromas become spicy with berries and pepper. Very nice acidity, and underlying grip with chewy tannins - a very fine boned structure. Slightly peppery in the mouth too, but always fresh. Serve chilled!
