2014 VDF 'Rive Droite Clos Belle-Croix'
Organic Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier (50/50). De-stemmed and 2 weeks maceration, to give a bit more extraction than his other light reds. Then 30 months élevage in old demi-muid.
When you open this you get that initial sensation of a reduction - but it's just the tobacco-like notes from the Meunier. Give it some air and then... bang! So bright! Lifted aromatics, lots of red cherries and strawberries. Some very mild spice, plus depths of Loire cellars. At end of bottle it smells like Burgundy without oak or harsh edges. Very clean, and the palate has a beautiful texture – strawberries and cream. Energy, lifted and floral. It’s very gentle, clean and well balanced. Not a thick texture, but soft and gentle. Just makes you feel good, and it's very easy to drink. You could drink it every night!
