2015 VDF 'Coup d'Jus'
Organic Côt from 40 year old vines. Macerated in fibre-glass tank, fermenting for 2 weeks. Then half the must transferred to an old 1200L wooden tank and half left in fibre-glass, with élevage for 13 months. The two tanks then blended and 20mg/L of SO2 added at bottling.
Dark nose of blackcurrants, wild berries, iron and bramble. Black forest styles. A touch of earth too. Juicy and rich, dark fruits and chocolate. Soft texture, with a nice limestone and silex mineral line, and medium acidity. Very fine grainy tannins give excellent structure, tension and grip too. A wine that begs for food - not just a solo smasher. A lovely winter wine!
