2016 AOC Arbois 'En Flandre'
From younger vines, grown on clay and limestone. Direct press, both ferments occurring in 350L barrels. Aged for 12 months on lees and topped up weekly.
Smells super mineral – a bit like Ganevat Florine. Yellow apples, pineapples and salinity. Definitely Jura! Clean and fresh in the mouth, quite rich, with pineapple and honey fruit. More classic in style, delicious, but would suit those who love that style of chardonnay – not buttery or flabby, it is quite precise, but with rich flavours. So mineral on the nose! Palate has oyster shell qualities too, like Chablis. Primo with cheese (manchego). So clean, tension starting to kick in. Quite long too. Day 2: very mineral on the nose, like Chablis. Fresh and crisp on the palate, straw and green notes, lime rind and oyter shells.
