2016 AOP Saint-Romain 'Vieilles Vignes'
From a north-west facing vineyard in a valley, with a very high limestone content - certified organic for more than 15 years. Only 924 bottles produced.
More minerality on the nose, plus faint nougat and oyster shells - definitely more mineral than fruity. A real step up from the Bourgogne Blanc. Much more acidity and drive, the acidity working its way into the crevaces of your mouth. Very long, very clean and pure. Apples, lemon barley, honey, nougat, white nectarines, very good acidity and overall balance. Real quality here. Lingers forever, yum! Quite powerful but not massive in your face styles – balance is key. Great tension as well. This has a really good future ahead of it.
