2016 AOC Arbois 'Sur la Côte'

Domaine de la Touraize

Regular price $60 750ml Sale

Pinot Noir from 20-40 year old vines grown on grey marl and clay/loam soils. 1/3 of the grapes are destemmed by hand, and the other 2/3 are whole bunch. The grapes undergo carbonic maceration. Some wetting of the cap, but no punching down, so as not to over extract. Pressing occurs, then remaining fermentation occurs in tank. Bottled March 2017, then aged in bottle 5 months prior to release.

Beautiful perfume, gentle and aromatic and very bright – subtle hints of red fruits and baking spice – it’s really quite delicate and refined. And super clean. Hints of cured meats – which will probably become more apparent as the wine ages. Silky in the mouth, strawberries, cherries, raspberries and red apples. Perfect balance, effortless to drink. Acidity is mild, and not at the forefront, but well intertwined. Some mineral action, and then a cruisy finish with soft fine tannins kicking around for a bit. Yum.
