2017 AOC Arbois 'Terres Bleues'
Savagnin from the Petit Curoulet and la Chenaillotte parcels, 300m above sea level. 10-40 year old vines grown on blue marl. Direct press into tank, then ferment and élevage completed in very old 2,800L foudre. Topped up regularly and aged for 18 months on lees.
Fresh hay, milk bottle lollies and lime. I actually really love the lime zest notes in this Savagnin. A bit of sea spray, oyster shell and lemon. Quite zippy and vibrant. Ample texture, but not overboard, much more restraint and precision this year. Very lively and fresh. Nice lime flavours, apple crunch. Flavours linger. Very refreshing, very well made. Impeccable balance. With air it opens up to reveal white florals, more of that trademark lime, and displays excellent mineral detail from the blue marl soils.
