An 80/20 blend of Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc, macerated on skins for 14 days. The wine is then aged old demi-muids for 12 months. The Chardonnay was purchased from friends (still organic) and the Chenin is their own.
Very light orange colour. Smells like Chardonnay, with a bit of peach, mandarin and preserved ginger. The aromas are reserved and subtle, and there is a gentle saline factor. To drink it is clean, fine and linear. The Chenin gives it a nice lift, with very refreshing acidity. I really like orange wines like this – fine and not too intense. It has a nice mineral line, plus it's fresh and easy. A lighter style that is not to heavy, great for summer. Delicate peach and nectarine flavours, also restrained. Nice little bitter finish with black schist tension becoming more prominent. And there is also that lovely saltiness at the end too. Yum!
