100% Chardonnay - half of the grapes were purchased from a certified organic grower in Corpeau, just south of Puligny-Montrachet. The other half were from Paul and Willy's vineyard in Chassey-le-Camp near Santenay. They began conversion of this vineyard to organic in 2017. Both soils are clay and limestone, quite sandy. Direct press, fermentation in old barrels for one year. No battonage, no fining or filtration. It was quite a slow fermentation that ended the following Spring, as they don't have temperature control - however this has contributed to extra complexity in the wine. <30mg SO2 added before bottling.

Nice yellow colour. Oats, yellow orchard fruit, nectarines, honey and a hint of nutmeg. Yellow pears. Slightly viscous but not too round, quite a lovely texture. Easy and tasty, with very nice medium plus acidity. The wine is bright, gently lacquerous and displays perfectly ripe fruits. There is a bit of weight here which would make it better with richer dishes, but the acidity ensures it is well balanced. Gentle spice and a hint of mineral on the finish. Tension builds with air, although the wine is softer, rather than tight and tense. Golden nectar on the nose. Very fresh and bright, much better after an hour of being open. Well made, no fuss, great for an entry level Burgundy.
