2018 AOP Bourgogne rouge ‘De Sousa’

Petit-Roy

Regular price $100 750ml Sale

Pinot Noir from 70 year old vines in Chorey-lès-Beaune. Here the soil is more clay with some limestone. Whole bunch maceration, raised in old barrels for one year and then settled in tank before bottling.

Much more lifted strawberry and raspberry fruit, even though it’s deep. Smells like Volnay a bit. Macerated strawberries, and a nice addition of perfectly ripe stem. Very fresh in the mouth - the fruit is light, but the depth is there. It keeps lifting inside your mouth, very perfumed in the mouth. Delicate savoury element on the nose. What a beautiful expression of Burgundy. This has an airy depth, but beautifully light and elegant fruit. This is rare to find - of course this is Burgundy, except free from the prestige, the over extraction, the sulfites, the new oak – this is what it should be! The perfume is so heavenly! I'm in love!
