2019 VDF 'Le Vin de la Tribu' (Magnum)
Aligoté from Bugey, in the commune of Leyzieu. The plot is called Tomacette, and is made up of clay and limestone. Crushed and then pressed in a vertical ratchet press, with 9 months ageing in fiberglass vats. Zero SO2. TRIBU or TRIBE - to remind Caroline of the tribe of friends who came to help her.
Clear colour with yellow edges. Big nose of sweet apples. Still has the mountain freshness about it, and perhaps the limestone influence. Lemon and flowers, feels like a warm sunny day. Clean on the palate, with sweet apple fruit, low-medium acidity. It is vibrant and textural, very smooth and long. Low alcohol makes for easy drinking. There is lemon around the edges, and a zing energy on the finish, with a touch of minerality. This is very pleasant and simple, and super enjoyable. So bright and clean, her wines are wonderful. 11% alc.
