100% Carignan from 45 year old vines grown on clay and limestone in Gordes. The site is 200M above sea level. 15 days whole bunch, then aged in foudre for 10 months. Zero SO2. This is a new cuvée - the name comes from when they used to taste this wine during the covid lockdowns, and it tasted like a magic 'potion' with lots of energy!
Darker in colour. Smells so French! Very clean and powerful, but quite expressive. Dark berries and rocks. Big energy. Some olives and wild dark herbs. Tastes amazing. Big energy, rocky, and slightly savage. Wild berries and bracken. Nicely balanced combination of acidity, tannin and tension. Textural vibration. This is super interesting, as that rockiness is so unique. Hints of charcoal, bay, and forest. But the taste is fresh and lifted with lots of depth and power. So impressive. Nice little sour twist on the finish – this has so many different aspects to it. Great Autumn food wine and an exceptional expression of Carignan.
