2019 VDF 'Tout Ça' (Magnum)
Gamay from Bugey, in the commune of Leyzieu. The plot is called Tomacette and is made up of clay and limestone. 6 weeks of maceration then pressed in a vertical ratchet press, with 9 months of ageing in old barrels. Zero SO2. TOUT ÇA or ALL THAT to continue the puns with THAT for the vintages in Gamay (reminiscent of ALL THAT 2018).
Deeper colour, turbid, with rose petal tones. Smells of ozone and rocks. Wild fruit at the edges. Chocolate, spice, and quite exotic. Again those roses – the detail is deep but lifted, and there is so much going on. Big blueberry vibe. This has such amazing texture, flavour for days. Medium plus acidity, and laced with all sorts of berries. Sweet fruit, layer upon layer, and total pleasure zone. Drink chilled, but not too cold for this one. 12% alc.
