Chardonnay from Blacé, in the lieu-dit 'Le Bourg'. The vineyard sits 300M above sea level, faces east, and has a high limestone content. The grapes are de-stemmed, and then macerated for one lunar cycle. The wine was then aged in amphora for nine months. Not fined or filtered, zero added sulfites. Production: 738 bottles.
The vibrant orange colour makes this very enticing. A little reductive initially, with subtle notes of dough and nori. You also sense the amphora with this one. Very fresh, with lots of extract and phenolics. Dusty tannins that provide great grip and tension. Notes of apricot, cumquat walnuts and herbs. The nori is there too, very unique. It’s quite grown up and savoury, with beautiful layers. A food wine, or just with some cheese. With restrained aromatics and a beautiful saline edge, this wine is very hard to put down.
