2021 VDF 'Coqueyron Haut' (Magnum)

Les Frères Soulier

Regular price $160 1500ml Sale

100% Grenache Noir – direct press to make what used to be called a ‘gris’ wine in the south of France – something between a white and a rosé. The vines were planted by their grandfather in 1964. The soils are sandy with round pebbles composed of quartz. This is the first of two versions of this wine from 2021. Aged in old oak barrels and then in magnum for two months prior to release. Not fined or filtered. Zero SO2.

Electric pink. Frosty vibes. On the nose it's a sweet raspberry and peach mashup. Some watermelon too. The texture is like a slushy almost. Bright, with high acidity and lots of depth. Layered, with strawberry, peach and apricot flavours. It is dry, but has that fatness from the south. Then the high acidity keeps it racy and fresh. Cool wine, very original. Lots of power. Delicious on day two as well.
