2014 VDF 'A contre courant'

Reynald Héaulé

Regular price $45 750ml Sale

Organic Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Gamay, Cabernet Franc, Côt. Very short maceration without extraction – part de-stemmed, part semi carbonic, then élevage for 18 months in old barrels.

You may need to decant this - sometimes there is a slight reduction, but it blows off to reveal a wonderful wine. The strawberries and raspberries here are super lifted on the nose – wow, so fresh! Always when you open this wine you think it’s a bit musty or something, but it blows off. Man, so fresh. All Reynald’s wines are so subtle. I love that. The opposite of in your face. These are wines of finesse. That Loire smell… how do you describe it to someone who’s never smelt it? Nice acidity, nice tartness, strawberry acidity. Nice fine grip, fuji apple crunch. Very delicate, fine boned and sexy AF. More spice later on, more deep burg styles. Almost a Gevrey-like nose, but delicate. Palate is like strawberry pinot. So good. So lifted!
