In 2022, Ferran wanted to make a white wine in which the skins are part of it, but not with the intention of producing an orange wine. He looks for integration and balance of the skins. The ‘Serral’ vineyard (planted in goblet 53 years ago) has the capacity to mature well while maintaining an interesting acidity. Basically, due to the thermal inversion that occurs during half of the morning. Harvested on 06 Sept. The grapes are de-stemmed, and then macerated in stainless steel. After the first fermentation, the wine is racked to another tank (early Oct) where it goes through malo. Right after malo, it was racked again to new and old 500L barrels of extra fine grain with half-open toast. Here it ages for 3 months. Not fined or filtered. 12% alc.
White with orange tinges in the glass. Orange skin and cumquat with bitterness on the nose. Orange blossom with fresh ocean breeze against the cliffs. Smooth to taste, with a little phenolic matter and detail that tickles the tongue. The 2022 has more depth of flavour thanks to the warm, dry year, while stil remaining relatively light. Orange with rind and pith, and again that nice saline tang and bitterness on the finish.
