2018 AOC Beaujolais 'La Galoche' blanc
Chardonnay from 30 year old vines grown on clay and limestone. Direct press, then vinified and aged in stainless steel tanks for 6 months. 10ppm SO2 before bottling.
Nectarines, butter, lemons and hints of roasted almonds. Well-made is the first impression. Very clean and clear too. On the palate it has gentle acidity and linear texture with medium minus body. Lots of peaches and nectarines, a dash of nougat and honey, and some delicate roasted nuts. A nice clean brightness on the palate, and reasonably good length. Very well balanced. Good straight off the bat, but nicer with air. Love the almond in the length. Again, for the price this over delivers.
