2018 VDF 'AligoT'
Aligoté from 90 year old vineyards, grown on clay and limestone. Direct press, fermentation, and then élevage for 12 months in concrete tanks. Zero SO2.
Yellow in appearance and slightly cloudy. Clean nose – very nice Aligoté smell. Apples and yellow plums, with gentle floral notes. Clean palate, fresh, with a decent stamp of fruit. Vibrant lemon flavours, with crisp apple, and great length. Very good actually, this opens up in the glass and increases its offerings. Nice stony minerality, and very decent flavour. Often Aligoté can be quite tight and intense, but this has a bit of give - and some excellent tension and acidity to complete what is an excellent wine. The flavours linger, offering apple crunch and gentle spice. A really nice example of the variety.
