Chardonnay from 30 year old vines grown on clay and limestone. Direct press, then vinified and aged in stainless steel tanks for 6 months. 10ppm SO2 before bottling.
Nice yellow colour - transparent and luminous. On first whiff, it is clean and instantly seems very well made. Honey, lemon, lime, nuts, apples, and a little nutmeg. Typical chardonnay nose, but all elements are restrained. Nothing too overt, no reduction. Not overly complex, but balanced and satisfying. Very fresh in the mouth. Lean and straight. Apples and lemons dominate, with some salinity. The acidity is medium plus, and lifts the wine. Gentle spice on finish. Balanced and well made. Juicy lime and lemon flavours over stones. Medium in length. Really nice acidity. Good tension on the finish too. Punches far above its weight for the price. Excellent quality and value.
