These grapes are purchased from a friend who farms organically. Grown on clay and limestone soils. Whole bunch maceration for 14 days, then pressed into barrels. Not fined or filtered. Zero additions except for 20ppm SO2 after malo, and then 10mg/L SO2 before bottling. Aged for 11 months in barrels - 90% used and 10% new. 12.5%
Amazing perfume! So lifted. Red roses, red and black cherries. Lots of red fruit and spice. I'm not usually a fan of new oak, but love this subtle, feather stroke touch. Silky in the mouth, red cherry and pit. Beautiful acidity and powdery tannins. Lifted with depth and good mid palate weight. Charming and inviting, could smell this all day. One of his best, and a big step up from the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune.
