A collaboration with Anthony Duchêne, a plastic artist. They put an old pair of 100% cotton underwear under the soil in their vineyards. The idea was to check how quick the underground life could break them down. The result is pictured on the label. The grapes come from the plot where this experiment has taken place. This is a deep and powerful rosé wine made from 100% Syrah. Direct press, 6 months in stainless tank and 6 months in oak barrel without topping up - aged under flor. No filtration nor fining. Without added S02.
Great colour – a deeper rosé but quite bright. A little reduction that reveals smoke, strawberries, candied apples and roses. Quite robust aromatics. Intense notes of strawberries and cream and perhaps charcoal. White flowers and strawberry eau-de-vie. To taste it is complex and has amazing depth of flavour. It is full in the mouth, but fresh. A mighty wine packed with goodness. The fruit is sweet, and the texture has that sugar energy zing. There is no residual, but it has the 'sucrosité' (as they call it in the south of France) which gives the sensation of sugar - but it is more the body of the wine that gives this feeling. Huge energy. Limestone very prominent. Great drinking now, and will age superbly too. Serve chilled.
