2019 AOP Arbois 'Sur la Côte'
Pinot Noir from the Sur la Côte parcel. 20-40 year old vines grown on grey marl and clay/loam soils. 1/3 of the grapes are de-stemmed by hand, and the other 2/3 are whole bunch. The grapes undergo carbonic maceration for 2 weeks. Aged in tank for 9 months.
Also much lighter this year. Big beautiful aromatic perfume, with that Touraize signature smell. No reduction, that’s a plus. Very fruity and young, but instantly approachable. Huge hit of raspberries and strawberries. A subtle mineral line runs through it, which adds detail. Roses, red apple skins. This is good, will be great. Third glass and bottle has warmed up now. It’s light, but it still has depth. The perfume is very lifted. It's an elegant style that finishes with super fine tannins. Light and jubey at the front, with a hint of spice kick in the background somewhere. It has just the right amount of extraction – it’s light, but has plenty of detail. So smooth and easy, this is really enjoyable to drink. Glides across the palate without effort. This is a summer banger. Loving the notes of roses and raspberries. If you like a lighter style of Pinot, then this is the one!
