Ploussard from lieu-dits La Touraize and Curoulet. The vines are 30-50 years old and grow on grey marl. The grapes are de-stemmed carefully by hand, and then placed in a tank and filled with CO2. Macerated for 10 days, wetting the cap every 2-3 days, but without punching down. The grapes are pressed and the juice is blended with the free run wine. After malo in tank, the wine is transferred to old foudre, where it ages for 7 months. Not fined or filtered. 10mg/L SO2 before bottling.
Nice light red colour. Beautiful clean nose, with a myriad of aromas. Roses, spice, blueberries, cherries, cocoa and salt – all with a certain depth. Clean, no funk. In the mouth it is silky, with substantial mid palate for a light wine. Lots of detail, spice and very fine tannin on the finish. So delicious to drink. A very well made Ploussard - no glou glou here. It’s solid and stable, and a dream to drink. Serve slightly chilled.
