2021 VDF 'La Chausée Rouge'

There was a decent amount of rain in 2021, which means the wines are slightly leaner and fresher than in 2020. On the nose you have violets, lifted red fruits, red apple skin and dark chocolate. The perfume is pleasantly aromatic, and while usually more fruity, this rendition has a nice little herbaceous edge thanks to the cooler year. Supple and silky on the palate, with plum and cherry fruit. Very fresh and easy to drink, with fine tannins and a nice savoury twist on the finish. Reasonably detailed for a simple wine. Well made as always. Serve slightly chilled.
