2015 VDF 'Kézako'

Domaine Mămărutá

Regular price $30 750ml Sale

The name means ‘what is it?’ in Occitan, an old language from Southern France, still spoken by about 1.5M people. Certified organic Carignan from vines Marc Castan's grandfather planted in 1952. Certified organic. Clay and alluvial soils, near the village of La Palme, on the cliff overlooking the ocean. Grapes picked by hand, in small boxes so as not to damage the grapes. Carbonic macertaion for 8 days, then a slow and gentle pressing to preserve fruit and freshness. Kept in tanks for 6 months, then bottled in Spring. 15mg/L SO2 added at bottling.

This is light to medium in style, and all dark wild berries and minerals. It’s a vin de soif, but still carries depth and complexity. It's a red that drinks a bit like a white, in that it's super fresh and crisp, and has nice tension on the back palate. This is very easy to drink, and you may find that you need more than one bottle! We recommend that you drink it slightly chilled... enjoy!
