2018 AOP Coteaux Bourguignons rosé
This is Gamay from Couchois in the south of Burgundy, grown on clay and limestone soils. The grapes are softly pressed, and macerate over a 3 hour period. They finish fermenting and are transferred to barrels for 4 months. Zero SO2.
Nice colour, a lot lighter this year. Strawberries and limestone influence on the nose. Sea breeze. Texture is supple, smooth and medium in weight. Strawberries and a dash of watermelon.Very easy and gentle. Quite mineral on back palate. Tension builds over time adding complexity. Delicate creamy texture with gentle tart acidity. So smooth though! Flavours linger… Very easy to drink many bottles! Best served icy cold.
