Pinot Noir from a 0.9ha parcel of southern facing vines that are over 80 years old. The parcel is a stone’s throw from Domaine d’Auvenay's ‘Les Clous’ lieu-dit, and is 275M above sea level. The soils are made up of clay and limestone, as well as small and large stones. Whole bunch maceration for 15 days, then aged in used barrels for 14 months. Not fined or filtered. 1g/hl SO2 added just before bottling. 12% alc.
Young but already so good! Cherry pips, fleshy dark cherries, dark red apple skin and plum. Plush fruits in the mouth, with savoury undertones and good mid palate weight. As it breathes, the perfumes become more lifted, with violets, potpourri and blueberry skins appearing. Complexity builds in the glass, offering a blend of darker fruits, brown spice and turned earth. More savoury than fruity. Finishes with plenty of acidity and super fine tannins.
