Pinot Noir from Comblanchien, on the middle part of the hillside with pink veined marble slabs. The vines are almost 40 years old, and grow on clay and plenty of limestone. Vinification in stainless steel vats - 100% whole bunch maceration for 15 days, and then aged in used barrels for one year. Not fined or filtered. 10ppm SO2 added before bottling. Organic, not certified. 12.5% alc.
Very light in colour. Heavenly perfume of strawberry compote, cocoa dust and gentle hints of sweet stemmy spice. And of course roses, which are always a key character from this site. The palate is silky and almost creamy in texture, and finishes with super fine tannins. Full of strawberry fruit, this is a delight to drink. It is incredible to drink this side by side with the 2020, as they are at completely opposite ends of the spectrum. These usually need a few years to really open up, but this is perfect to drink now. Effortless!
