2018 VDF 'Brise d'Aunis'
This comes in 1L bottle! 100% Pineau d’Aunis. Grapes taken from 2 parcels, one planted in 2009 and one in 1969. Both parcels have schist soils. Grapes de-stemmed by hand, then a very short 7-day maceration. Bottled in April 2019 with a tiny amount of SO2.
Light and fresh with all the spicy Pineau d’Aunis characters we’ve come to expect. Nice structure too, for a light wine. It's elegant, fine boned, and extremely well balanced. Serve chilled. Fragrant and lifted. Cocoa and musky pepperiness. Always reminds me of dark green fresh forest smells for some reason. Savoury, lots of mid palate. Nice schisty tension. Very crunchy, apple skin tannins. Wild strawberries, dark forest berries, spicy and peppery. One of the best examples of the variety I've ever tried, so good!
