2019 VDF 'Les Petits Cailloux'

Domaine des Quatre Pierres

Regular price $55 750ml Sale

A blend of Chenin Blanc, Petit Manseng and Viognier. Direct press, and then traditional Burgundian vinification consisting of both fermentations occurring in old barrels. Occasional stirring of the fine lees to add texture. Aged for 12 months and bottled without fining or filtration, and 20mg/L SO2 before bottling. This is a really interesting wine, as you don't normally see Chenin in this part of France. Edouard planted it himself, and it works perfectly in this climate. It is a beautiful blend.

Yellow and almost golden in the glass. Clear and luminous. Clean on the nose, with ripe orchard fruits and macadamia. On the palate it is lightly textural and displays beautiful acidity. There is a gentle texture thanks to the carefully managed lees stirring. Sweet fruit – apple, lemon, kiwi and notes of honey. Limestone influence very prominent on the finish, and a touch of white pepper. Vibrant, super clean and has lots of freshness and drive thanks to the acidity, which lingers forever. A beautiful winter white that showcases an excellent combination of terroir and winemaking. Extremely well made, and very pleasing to drink on day two or three as well.
