This wine was one of three selected for Nick Cave's debut ceramics exhibition in Belgium earlier this year.
Pinot Noir from 60 year old vines in a lieu-dit called 'Les Fournières'. The vineyard is almost in the centre of the appellation, next to the village. It is east facing and is made up of clay and limestone soils. These grapes are 100% de-stemmed, and then macerate for 16 days. Aged in barrels (25% new) for 11 months.
Bright red macerated strawberry and cherry fragrance, with an array of enticing delicate incense, salts, and hints of menthol tobacco. The aromatics are complex and lifted, and the well-managed oak gently sits in the back ground and is perfectly balanced. So many layers on the nose. The palate is more of the same. Bright red fruits – mainly cherry, with layers of mid palate detail and weight. The tannins are super fine, and gently coat the mouth, giving caressing tension. Incredible length and exceptional balance. This is a huge step up and of exceptional quality. I'm excited!
