Chardonnay from 75 year old vines from 'Le Charlemagne' lieu-dit. The vines face south and grow predominantly on marl soils. The surrounding hills create air currents that ventilate the vineyard, preserving the freshness of the grapes. These old vines produce quality over quantity. Aged for 12 months in high quality barrels that are one year old on average (50% new). Carefully racked to tank to settle. Not fined or filtered.
First time in Australia. What an incredible wine. Never-ending layers that unfold in the glass, and a finish that goes on forever. There is so much matter to chew on. Sensual and hedonistic. Drinking well already, but will do doubt continue to improve and gather depth over the next few years.
