Pinot Noir from 65 year old vines in an east facing vineyard, made up of clay and limestone soils. The Lieu-dit is called 'Aux Champs Chardons' and is on the eastern side of the appellation, close to Chorey-lès-Beaune and Aloxe-Corton. 20% whole bunch, 80% de-stemmed, macerated for 12 days. Then aged in barrels with an average age of 3 years, for 11 months.
A decant gives this lifted aromats of dark plum, blueberry skin, cacao. Wafts of cardamom, black tea and the tiniest hint of menthol in the background. Slippery texture with layers of dark cherries and spice, more cardamom – all wrapped up in a creamy silky mouthfeel, framed by subtle quality oak. Black currant comes later. The texture is so creamy. This is really delicious and is softer and more generous than the 2021. A real standout not to be missed!
